Professional Asbestos Removal & Abatement Services

Maybe you lifted a corner of old kitchen vinyl and found black glue underneath. Or a contractor glanced at your basement pipes and put down his tools. In older Flathead Valley homes, moments like these call for asbestos testing. If the results come back positive, the next step is careful asbestos removal by a licensed crew.

What most people don’t hear is that asbestos just being there in a floor or ceiling is not the main danger. Fibers get into the air when the material is cut, sanded, scraped or broken. Allied 24/7 Restoration tests suspect materials and tells you plainly whether they need to come out. When they do, the same local crew removes them and rebuilds the space.

Where Asbestos Turns Up in Older Buildings

Asbestos went into hundreds of building products until the late 1970s and early 1980s. If your home or building is older than that, these are the usual suspects.

Vinyl Floor Tiles and Black Mastic

Nine-inch-square vinyl tiles are a classic warning sign. The black adhesive beneath them can contain asbestos too. Intact tiles are fairly stable. Grinding or chipping them is what frees the fibers, so asbestos tile removal is done wet, lifting tiles whole wherever possible.

Popcorn and Textured Ceilings

Sprayed-on ceiling texture from that era often contains asbestos, and it crumbles at the slightest touch. Scraping it off for a fresh look is one of the most common ways homeowners expose themselves. Our asbestos ceiling removal takes place inside sealed containment, with the texture kept damp as it comes down.

Vermiculite in the Attic

The Flathead Valley sits within a couple of hours of Libby, where most of the vermiculite insulation sold in the U.S. was mined. That ore carried a needle-shaped form of asbestos, unlike the chrysotile found in most tiles and ceilings. If your attic floor is filled with lightweight granules that look a bit like gravel mixed with mica flakes, have a sample tested. A settlement trust may also reimburse part of the removal cost for qualifying homes.

Pipe Wrap, Roofing and Siding

Old boiler and heating pipes were often wrapped in white or gray asbestos insulation. Some roofs and exterior walls used rigid asbestos-cement sheets. Our crew has removed those roof sheets from lift platforms, working in respirators and fall protection.

Asbestos Testing Comes First

Nobody can confirm asbestos by looking at it. A small sample has to go to a lab. Allied’s asbestos testing starts with Tim walking the areas you plan to work on and pointing out which materials are worth sampling. Our crew wets each spot before taking a sample and seals it afterward, so the test itself doesn’t release anything.

The results set the scale of the job. Under Montana’s rules, disturbing more than 10 square feet, 3 linear feet or 3 cubic feet of regulated asbestos material requires a state permit and accredited workers. The application is due 10 working days before work begins. We can help you prepare your application. Some owner-occupied homes are exempt. Even so, the state encourages homeowners to hire accredited professionals, and disposal rules still apply.

Asbestos remediation does not always mean tearing material out. The right choice depends on the material’s condition and on what you plan to do with the space.

  • Leave it. Intact floor tiles under carpet, or undamaged pipe wrap in a crawlspace nobody uses, may be safest left in place and checked now and then.
  • Seal or cover it. Encapsulation coats the material so it can’t shed fibers. Enclosure covers it instead, such as new flooring laid over old tile.
  • Remove it. Removal makes sense when the material is damaged or crumbling, or when it stands in the way of a remodel, repair or sale.

Tim will tell you which option fits, even when it means a smaller job. On one mold call, he told a homeowner the patch in their attic was old staining, not live growth. He brings the same honesty to asbestos decisions.

Certified Safety Procedures

We follow strict industry regulations and proven safety practices throughout every asbestos removal project.

Safe & Compliant Disposal

We ensure asbestos waste is handled and disposed of responsibly, meeting all applicable safety and environmental standards.

How a Removal Job Runs

Plan and permit. Tim explains the scope and which rooms will be off-limits. The permit is filed if the job needs one.

Seal the work area. Our licensed crew lines the space with plastic sheeting and posts warning signs. HEPA-filtered machines exhaust air from the sealed room, keeping its pressure lower than the rest of the house, so any gap in the plastic draws air in rather than letting fibers escape.

Wet and remove. Materials get misted before anyone touches them, then come down in the largest pieces possible.

Bag and seal. Debris goes into heavy, labeled bags that are sealed inside the containment.

Clean and verify. The crew HEPA-vacuums and wet-wipes every surface. The air inside is tested before removing the plastic.

Dispose and rebuild. Waste goes to a landfill licensed to accept it. Then we put back the floor, ceiling or insulation.

Commercial Asbestos Removal

Commercial properties face stricter rules than homes. The exemption some homeowners have doesn’t extend to businesses, so an asbestos inspection is expected before renovation or demolition that could disturb building materials. Booking that inspection early keeps the permit timeline from holding up your contractor.

If Damage Has Already Broken It Open

Sometimes the damage is already done before anyone thinks about asbestos. A windstorm cracks old roof sheets or a burst pipe soaks asbestos wrap. Don’t sweep, vacuum or run fans in that area. Close the door, shut off the furnace or AC serving that space, and call (406) 756-4357 at any hour.

Why Restoration Jobs Don't Stall Here

Old building materials often surface halfway through a restoration job. When a contractor is not set up for asbestos, work stops while you find someone who is. Allied handles the testing, the removal and the rebuild, so a fire damage repair or water damage job keeps moving once the area is cleared.

Tim stays involved from the first sample to the final walkthrough. The person who planned the containment is the same person who confirms it came down cleanly. That continuity comes from more than 31 years of opening up older homes across the valley.

Asbestos Questions We Hear Often

Probably not, but only a test can confirm it. Asbestos ceiling texture was largely phased out by the early 1980s, though leftover stock was used for a few years after. If your home was built or remodeled before the mid-1980s, test before you scrape.

Usually not when you're removing it ahead of a remodel. If a covered event like a fire or storm damages asbestos material, the cleanup may fall under that claim, depending on your policy. We document what we find for your adjuster either way.

For a small job sealed inside one room, often yes. Whole-attic vermiculite or ceilings throughout the house usually mean staying elsewhere until the air passes testing. Tim will tell you which applies before the work is scheduled.
